This site documents our phenomenal trip to the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention on August 8 - 11. Al was scheduled to appear on stage with Denise Crosby and several developers from Cryptic Studios to discus Star Trek Online. It was a honor and a privilege to participate in this event, but what ended up transpiring was pure joy and a memory of a lifetime.
We learned that the teams at Trek Radio and Priority One Podcast were bringing the bridge of the Enterprise D to the show. Two days before the show, we decided to renew our wedding vows on the bridge. We figured we throw something together quick and fun. We reached out to our friends at Trek Radio, Priority One Podcast, The G&T Show, CBS, friends and co-workers, and the Star Trek Online community. In two days, everyone rallied to put together the wedding of a lifetime.
The day we arrive, and minutes before the ceremony, Denise Crosby - Tasha Yar and Sela from Star Trek the Next Generation - whom Al has had the privilege to work with at Cryptic, approaches us and says that she is going to officiate over the ceremony. Talk about dropping a bomb! Words cannot describe what an unexpected joy that was. Our friend Brandon Felczer had met with Denise the night before and set the whole thing up. Thank you Brandon and thank you Denise! Trek Radio and Priority One Podcast, managed the whole ceremony, recording video, photos and broadcasting the entire ceremony. Nick Duguid and Noel Holmes provided additional video and photos. Al's friend and business associate from CBS, John Van Citters, graciously offers to provide a Star Trek Deep Space Nine uniform for the Ceremony. Thank you John. Tribble Toys even provide us with two tribbles to throw as wedding bouquets. Finally, we were joined by dozens of Star Trek and Star Trek Online fans in costume - even Dr Who showed up! Their presence was the icing on the cake. We even had a Klingon (Andy) join in the ceremony!
We later had dinner with Denise and the whole Cryptic team. Al, Amy and Kate Bankson then went to see KÀ by Cirque du Soleil. Kate managed to get 3rd row center seats! The next day, Friday, Al takes the stage with Denise and Brandon, Then Saturday, Al takes the stage with the Cryptic developers - Dan Stahl, Brandon Felczer and Thomas Marone. We wrap up Saturday with a "Meet the Devs" social at the I-Bar at the Rio, where we meet many Star Trek Online players and fans. We spend most of Sundays enjoying the convention and meeting many of the Star Trek Stars, including Garret Wang (Harry Kim), Chase Masterson (Leeta), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), and Armin Shimerman (Quark).
